We use information to provide education and portal services, administer applications and transactions, support learners and partners, and protect the service. We do not sell personal information.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Skill Edge School of Technology (“Skill Edge”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates this website and portal and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our contact details appear at the end of this notice.
This policy applies when you browse the public website, create an applicant or partner account, apply to a programme or scholarship, use learning services, buy from the school shop or a partner course listing, contact us, or otherwise interact with the portal.
2. Information we collect
The information depends on the service you use. It may include:
- Account and contact details: name, email address, phone number, login and email-verification details, and password hash. We do not store your password in readable form.
- Application and education details: date of birth, address, education history, programme and cohort choices, learning preferences, application answers, motivation statements, and documents or passport photographs you submit.
- Learning and assessment records: enrolment, course progress, lesson activity, attendance, assessment attempts, submissions, feedback, instructor assignments, and certificates. A certificate verification page may show the certificate details to someone who has its share link.
- Partner and instructor details: organisation and representative details, contact information, partner or instructor onboarding information, qualifications, programme listings, and information needed to manage the relationship.
- Orders and payment records: products or courses ordered, order and transaction references, payment status, amount and method, delivery and recipient details, and partner payout details. Payment card credentials are handled by the payment provider and are not requested in the portal.
- Career and support information: job or project applications, proposals, CVs, portfolio links, messages, contact-form inquiries, and replies.
- Feedback and public content: course or instructor ratings and testimonials. We display a testimonial publicly only where you gave the required permission and an administrator has chosen to feature it.
- Technical and service information: information needed to keep sessions and forms working, prevent misuse, troubleshoot failures, deliver messages, and maintain transaction and security records. Service providers may also create their own technical logs.
We receive information directly from you, from the account or organisation you represent, from staff who administer the service, and from payment or other service providers when they confirm a transaction or deliver a requested service.
3. Why we use information and our lawful grounds
We use personal information only for clear, relevant purposes, including to:
- create and secure accounts, verify contact details, and provide requested portal features;
- receive and review applications, assess eligibility, communicate decisions, manage scholarships, and support admissions;
- enrol learners, provide course materials, administer assessments and attendance, track progress, assign instructors, and issue or verify certificates;
- process shop and course orders, confirm payments, arrange delivery, handle support requests, and calculate partner earnings and payouts;
- onboard and manage partners and instructors, review listings, administer career applications, and meet programme obligations;
- respond to inquiries, send essential account, application, course, payment, and service messages, and send optional campaigns where applicable. Campaign emails include an unsubscribe option; essential service messages are handled separately;
- protect people and the portal, investigate suspected fraud or misuse, improve service reliability, and comply with legal obligations.
Depending on the purpose, the lawful ground may be taking steps you request or performing an agreement with you, complying with a legal obligation, pursuing a legitimate interest such as account security and service administration where your rights do not override that interest, or your consent. We rely on consent for optional uses where required, such as displaying a testimonial publicly. If we rely on consent, you can withdraw it for future processing; withdrawal does not undo processing already carried out lawfully.
We do not use Neom AI to decide admissions, scholarship awards, partner or instructor onboarding, payments, or payouts. Those decisions require review through the relevant school process.
5. Neom AI and connected services
Neom uses approved school information to answer questions. If an administrator has enabled an external AI provider, your current question, up to eight recent chat messages, your workspace type, and a small set of relevant school information may be sent to the provider selected for the portal. Available integrations include OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, Meta’s developer AI API, Qwen through Alibaba Cloud, Kimi through Moonshot, and compatible custom endpoints. Only the provider configured and enabled at the time handles a request.
Neom is not connected to personal application, payment, learner-progress, partner, instructor, or staff records. It does not submit admissions or financial decisions. Skill Edge does not store chat transcripts in the portal database. We do record limited service-usage metadata such as provider, model, success or failure, response time, and token totals. The external provider handles submitted text under its own service terms and retention practices, which may differ from ours and may involve processing outside Nigeria.
We apply basic redaction to some credential-like text, but automated redaction may not catch everything. Do not enter passwords, one-time codes, bank or card credentials, private identity-document details, or confidential personal information into AI chat. You can contact the school without using Neom.
Other connected services, including payment gateways, email providers, cloud services used for a specific workflow, Google Fonts, or embedded video services, may receive the technical or transaction information needed to provide their function. Some providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where a cross-border transfer occurs, we will use a transfer ground and safeguards required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act and applicable NDPC directives.
7. How long we keep information and how we protect it
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the account, application, course, order, partner, or support service; meet financial, legal, and record-keeping duties; resolve disputes; and protect the portal. When it is no longer needed, it is deleted or de-identified where practical. Some copies may remain for a limited time in protected backups or security records before they are rotated or removed.
Safeguards include role-based account access, password hashing, account-checked routes for private files, protected storage for private documents, and restricted access to service credentials. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Please keep your sign-in details private and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
8. Your privacy rights and choices
Subject to the Nigeria Data Protection Act and applicable exceptions, you may ask us to:
- explain how we use your information and provide access to a copy;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- erase information, restrict processing, or object to processing in circumstances provided by law;
- provide information in a portable format where the legal conditions apply;
- stop consent-based processing by withdrawing consent; or
- review a concern about your information or a decision that you believe was made solely by automated means.
Contact us using the details below. We may ask for enough information to verify your identity and locate the relevant records. Some information must be kept where law requires it or where it is needed to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim; if that limits a request, we will explain as far as the law allows. You may also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), Nigeria’s data protection supervisory authority.
9. Children and young learners
Some learners may be under 18. Where an applicant is a child, a parent or legal guardian may need to assist with the application and provide any authorisation required by law. If you believe a child’s information was submitted without appropriate authority, contact us so we can review it.
10. Contact us or raise a complaint

If we cannot resolve a data-protection concern, you may contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission. You can read the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 and review the Commission’s published guidance.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this notice when our services, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date at the top shows the latest revision. If a change materially affects how information is used, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
